Cathy Napier

Cathy Napier was born in Ashland, Kentucky where she lived until she graduated from high school. She has worked in several major psychiatric hospitals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. She left Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas to accept a position working under Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico implementing outpatient programs dealing with substance abuse and Domestic Violence. She was the Behavioral Health therapist for the Burlington Northern Railway’s Southwest Division. She went back to her beloved state of Kentucky to work on the Opioid crisis from 2017 to 2019 to help those that have been ravaged by heroin addiction and sex trafficking.

She has a Bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University, A Master’s degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. She did post-graduate work in addiction at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She is the author of the books, Operation Daughters Addicted, and Addiction:  From Bondage to Freedom. Cathy has worked in Behavioral Health for 45 years in various forms of counseling, such as family therapy, employee assistance, addictions, sex trafficking, PTSD from sex abuse, war, railroad accidents, and domestic violence. Cathy surrendered to Jesus Christ in 1968 after attending church at Brainerd Baptist Church, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Tara Vines was born and raised in Shelby County and graduated from Vestavia Hills High School. She attended Auburn University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She completed her Master’s Degree in agency counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1998 and gained her Professional Licensure in Counseling in 2003.

Tara has a heart for children in crisis and has volunteered her time on various mission trips, the crisis center, and a lower income community in Auburn. She has volunteered in various leadership roles at Valleydale Church including singing in the worship choir, leading small groups, and serving on the youth leadership team. She currently serves in the children’s and preschool ministries.

Tara has more than 20 years of experience providing counseling services to children and teens in school and residential settings as well as small groups. Tara seeks to help children grow to reach their full potential, unlock their strengths, and build resilience. She uses a variety of therapeutic play techniques and Cognitive Behavioral strategies. Her counseling style includes connecting with and validating her clients.

Tara’s experiences have allowed her to fulfill her passion for working with at-risk children as well as youth that have experienced school difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, poor social skills, and difficulty with emotional regulation. She works primarily with children 1st -6th grades. While working with a local elementary school Tara presented to parents on several topics including anxiety, meltdowns and promoting resiliency and growth.

Tara has been married to her husband Jeff for 22 years. (fun fact: Jeff and Tara met in the Valleydale singles ministry.) They have three children: Sarah (19), Leah (17), and Andrew (12). In her spare time, she enjoys reading, scrapbooking, hiking, and traveling.
