PREPARING  GENERATIONS FOR LEADERSHIP IN A BUSY COMMUNITY

At Valleydale Church, our vision is to be generations helping our busy community know Christ and live for Him.  We’re here to invest in you as you clarify the call to ministry you’ve received from the Lord.

What can I expect from this program?

  • One Year Program from August to July

  • Birmingham, Alabama

  • work in a small group of residents and as part of a large staff

  • grow in biblical and theological knowledge

  • experience practical ministry

  • develop personally and pastorally

Who is the ideal resident?

The ideal resident has completed undergraduate education and is currently in seminary or has seminary in mind. They feel a distinct calling on their lives to pursue a specific area of ministry.

During your time with us, you will receive a monthly stipend of $1500 as well as housing options available to residents through Valleydale.

Residents can continue seminary studies through our partnership with New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the NOBTS Extension Center at Valleydale. Residents can also choose to continue online studies through other seminaries throughout the country.

Is there any other financial assistance available?

Throughout the Ministry Residence experience books and resources for leadership and ministry development will be provided. All ministry residents will be eligible for a North America and an International missions experience through one of Valleydale’s church planting or missionary partners. Throughout the year expect swag and plenty of meals through residency fellowships and connections through Valleydale Church members. 

How valuable will I be when I finish?

When you finish this program, you will have a year of experience at Valleydale, will be well on your way to a seminary degree, and will have been given opportunities to develop a plethora of ministry skill sets. It is our desire to set you up for a successful, lifelong ministry. 

How long is the Residency Experience?

The Ministry Residency is one year beginning in late August and going through July.

How much time will it take each week?

Residents will work up to 30 hours per week in one of the following areas:

  • Preschool

  • Children

  • Students

  • Sub 30s (college and 20s)

  • Discipleship

  • Music, Tech, and Service Programming (Creative)

How many people are accepted into the Residency Experience?

We want the class sizes to be small and intimate— 5 people are expected each year.

When does the Residency Experience start?

The experience begins each August and ends in July. Applications open February 1 each year in preparation for the next fall class.
